LITTLE VALLEY - Commissioners Kevin Burleson and Cortney Spittler of the Cattaraugus County Board of Elections have established local registration days in Cattaraugus County for the purpose of voter registration for the Nov. 5 General Election.
New York State Election Law requires that in presidential election years the board of elections schedule a local voter registration event on two separate days with evening hours, one of which must be a Saturday. This schedule provides an additional opportunity for people to register in time to vote in the General Election. It also affords a convenient way for those persons who have moved, but have not yet notified the Board of Elections, to complete a new voter registration form providing the updated address.
People registering to vote for the first time should be prepared to show identification and provide either their driver’s license number or the last four digits of their social security number.
Registration hours are set for 2 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 from and from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10. Board of Elections staff will be available at the Cattaraugus County Board of Elections, 207 Rock City St., Little Valley.
The commissioners encouraged voters who may have changed their name, moved, updated their mailing address or otherwise made any changes that may affect their voter registration information to notify the Board of Elections as soon as possible.
The last day to register to vote for the 2024 General Election is Oct. 26.
Voter registration forms are available at the Board of Elections office at 207 Rock City St. Suite 100, Little Valley, NY or at town and village clerks and county post offices. Forms are also available for download from the New York State Board of Elections web site or at www.CattCo.org/Board-Elections. In addition, voters may also register online through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles at https://voterreg.dmv.ny.gov/MotorVoter or https://elections.ny.gov/register-vote.
The Board of Elections is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The board may be reached by phone at (716) 938-2400, by email using our contact form at www.CattCo.org/board-elections/contact, or visit in-person regarding questions about voter registration status.
