Cattaraugus County Health Department was notified of four additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 residents within Cattaraugus County. The department’s active positive COVID-19 caseload is now thirty eight as there are two hundred and sixteen residents who have recovered from COVID-19.
The two hundred and sixtieth confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. She was recently hospitalized with fever, cough, shortness of breath and hypoxia. She was tested for COVID-19 on October 4th and her test results on October 6th indicated that she was positive for the virus.
The two hundred and sixty first confirmed case is a male resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history. He reports being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person however, he also reports being asymptomatic (no fever, no cough, no muscle aches etc.). He was tested for COVID-19 on October 2nd and his test results on October 6th indicated that he was positive for the virus.
The two hundred and sixty second and third confirmed cases are two female residents, mother and daughter, who resides in the southwest quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history. They report being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person and recently developed fever, cough, headaches and muscle aches. They were tested for COVID-19 on October 5th and their test result on October 6th indicated that they were positive for the virus.
The department has begun a thorough contact tracing investigation for those individuals that they have been in contact with and the places that they have visited.
We would like to reiterate that if any resident experience fever, cough, shortness of breath or whole body aches they should contact their health care provider (avoid going directly to an Urgent Care facility, or the Emergency Room before calling).
