Cattaraugus County Health Department was notified of four additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 residents within Cattaraugus County. The department’s active positive COVID-19 caseload is now forty as there are two hundred and nine residents who have recovered from COVID-19.


The two hundred and fifty third confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. She was recently hospitalized with shortness of breath and was tested for COVID-19 on October 2nd. Her test results on October 4th indicated that she was positive for the virus.


The two hundred and fifty fourth confirmed case is a male resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. He was recently hospitalized with cough, fever and pneumonia and was tested for COVID-19 on October 2nd. His test results on October 4th indicated that he was positive for the virus.


The two hundred and fifty fifth confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. She was recently hospitalized with shortness of breath and was tested for COVID-19 on October 2nd. Her test results on October 4th indicated that she was positive for the virus.


The two hundred and fifty sixth confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history. She reports being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person and recently developed a mild cough. She was tested for COVID-19 on October 2nd and her test results on October 4th indicated that she was positive for the virus.


The department has begun a thorough contact tracing investigation for those individuals that they have been in contact with and the places that they have visited.


We would like to reiterate that if any resident experience fever, cough, shortness of breath or whole body aches they should contact their health care provider (avoid going directly to an Urgent Care facility, or the Emergency Room before calling).
