Cattaraugus County Health Department was notified of eleven additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 residents within Cattaraugus County. The department’s active positive COVID-19 caseload is now sixty four as there are two hundred and eighty residents who have recovered from COVID-19.
The three hundred and forty eighth confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who has no significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. She developed cough, congestion, running nose, and fatigue and was tested for COVID-19 on October 14th as a screening requirement at the institution that she attends, and her test results on October 18th indicated that she was positive for the virus.
The three hundred and forty ninth, fiftieth, and fifty first confirmed cases are three residents (father and two daughters) who reside in the southeast quadrant of the county, who have no significant travel history. They are direct contacts with a positive COVID-19 person. He is a healthcare worker and he developed fever, cough and congestion, the two daughters were asymptomatic (no fever, cough, no body aches, etc.). They were given a rapid test for COVID-19 on October 19th and their test results indicated that they were positive for the virus.
The three hundred and fifty second confirmed case is a male resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who has no significant travel history. He reports being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person, but also reports being asymptomatic, (no fever, no cough, no body aches, etc.). He was given a rapid test for COVID-19 on October 19th and his test results indicated that he was positive for the virus.
The three hundred and fifty third confirmed case is a male resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who has no significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. He recently developed fever, congestion and cough. He was given a rapid test for COVID-19 on October 19th and his test results indicated that he was positive for the virus.
The three hundred and fifty fourth confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the northwest quadrant of the county, who recently traveled to Montana but denies any direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. She was recently hospitalized with shortness of breath. She was given a rapid test for COVID-19 on October 18th and her test results indicated that she was positive for the virus.
The three hundred and fifty fifth and fifty sixth confirmed cases are two residents (mother and daughter) who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who has no significant travel history. They report being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person and recently developed fever, headaches body aches, fatigue and loss of taste and smell. They were given a rapid test for COVID-19 on October 19th and their test results indicated that they were positive for the virus.
The three hundred and fifty seventh confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who has no significant travel history. She reports being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person and recently developed, fatigue diarrhea, and loss of taste. She was given a rapid COVID-19 test on October 19th and her test results indicated that she was positive for the virus.
The three hundred and fifty eighth confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who has no significant travel history. She is a healthcare worker who reports being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person, and recently developed congestion, sore throat, fatigue, loss of taste and smell.
She was given a rapid test for COVID-19 on October 19th and her test results indicated that she was positive for the virus.
The department has begun a thorough contact tracing investigation for those individuals that they have been in contact with and the places that they have visited.
We would like to reiterate that if any resident experience fever, cough, shortness of breath or whole body aches they should contact their health care provider (avoid going directly to an Urgent Care facility, or the Emergency Room before calling).
In addition, wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. This is especially important after using the bathroom, coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.
If soap and water is not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains a minimum of 60% alcohol.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, especially with unwashed hands.
Disinfect commonly touched surfaces with a cleaner that is approved by the EPA against COVID-19.
