Cattaraugus County Health Department was notified of seven additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 residents within Cattaraugus County. The department’s active positive COVID-19 caseload is now sixty three as there are three hundred and twenty six residents who have recovered from COVID-19.
The four hundred and first confirmed case is a male resident who resides in the southwest quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history. He reports being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. He recently developed cough, shortness of breath, and fatigue. He was given a rapid test for COVID-19 on October 25th and his test results indicated that he was positive for the virus.
The four hundred and second confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. She was recently hospitalized with trouble speaking, and weakness. She was tested for COVID-19 on October 24th and her test results on October 25th indicated that she was positive for the virus.
The four hundred and third confirmed case is a male resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. He works at a healthcare facility and recently developed fever, congestion, chills, muscle aches, and headaches. He was tested for COVID-19 on October 19th and his test results on October 21st indicated that he was positive for the virus.
The four hundred and fourth confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. She has been asymptomatic (no cough, no fever, no body aches, etc.) for the most part. She was given a rapid COVID-19 test on October 26th and her test results indicated that she was positive for the virus.
The four hundred and fifth confirmed case is a male resident who resides in the northwest quadrant of the county, whose denies any significant travel history. He reports being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person, but he also reports that he is asymptomatic (no fever, no cough, no body aches, etc.). He was given a rapid test for COVID-19 on October 26th and his test results indicated that he was positive for the virus.
The four hundred and sixth confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the northeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history or being in contact with a positive COVID-19 person. She reports recently developing a fever, cough, congestion, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, and body aches. She was tested for COVID-19 on October 22nd and her test results on October 25th indicated that she was positive for the virus.
The four hundred and seventh confirmed case is a female resident who is resides in the northeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. She reports being asymptomatic (no fever, no cough, no body aches, etc.). She was tested for COVID-19 on October 26th as a screening process for the facility and her test results indicated that she was positive for the virus.
The department has begun a thorough contact tracing investigation for those individuals that they have been in contact with and the places that they have visited.
We would like to reiterate that if any resident experience fever, cough, shortness of breath or whole body aches they should contact their health care provider (avoid going directly to an Urgent Care facility, or the Emergency Room before calling).
In addition, wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. This is especially important after using the bathroom, coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.
If soap and water is not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains a minimum of 60% alcohol.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, especially with unwashed hands.
Disinfect commonly touched surfaces with a cleaner that is approved by the EPA against COVID-19.
