Cattaraugus County Health Department was notified of three additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 residents within Cattaraugus County. The department’s active positive COVID-19 caseload is now twelve as there are one-hundred and thirty three residents who have recovered from COVID-19.

The one hundredth and forty seventh case is a male resident who resides in the southwest corner of the county who denies any significant travel history or direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. He developed fever, chills, body aches and headaches. He was tested for COVID-19 on August 21^st and his test results on August 23^rd indicated that he was positive for the virus.

The one hundredth and forty eighth confirmed case is a male resident who is residing on the northwest quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history. He is a healthcare worker who has been in direct contact with persons that have tested positive for COVID-19. He recently developed congestion, fatigue and loss of smell. He was tested for COVID-19 on August 21^st and his test results on August 24^th indicated that he was positive for the virus.

The one hundredth and forty ninth confirmed case is a female resident who is residing on the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history. She works in a healthcare facility and reports being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. She has been asymptomatic (no fever, no cough, no body aches) for the most part.  She was tested for COVID-19 on August 21^st and her test results on August 24^th indicated that she was positive for the virus.

The department has begun a thorough contact tracing investigation for those individuals that he has been in contact with and the places that he has visited. 

We would like to reiterate that if any resident experience  fever, cough, shortness of breath or whole body aches they should contact their health care provider (avoid going directly to an Urgent Care facility, or the Emergency Room before calling).
