Cattaraugus County Health Department was notified of five additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 residents within Cattaraugus County. The department’s active positive COVID-19 caseload is now eight as there are one-hundred and thirty three residents who have recovered from COVID-19.
The one hundredth and forty first confirmed case is a female resident who is residing on the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history. She is a healthcare worker who reports being asymptomatic (no fever, no cough, no body aches, etc.), and denies being in contact with a known positive COVID-19 person. She was tested for COVID-19 on August 17th as a requirement before any pre-operative procedure and her test results on August 20th indicated that she was positive for the virus.
The one hundredth and forty second, third, and fourth confirmed cases is a family (mother, father and son) who all reside on the southwest quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history. They developed (cough, chills, body aches, shortness of breath, loss of taste and smell). They were tested for COVID-19 on August 19th and their test results on August 21th indicated that they were positive for the virus.
The one hundredth and forty fifth confirmed case is a male resident who resides in the northeast corner of the county who recently traveled to South Dakota. He reports being asymptomatic (no fever, no cough, no body aches, etc.) but is a direct contact of a positive COVID-19 person. He was tested for COVID-19 on August 20th, and his test results indicated that he was positive for the virus.
The department has begun a thorough contact tracing investigation for those individuals that they have been in contact with, and the places that they have visited.
We would like to reiterate that if any resident experience fever, cough, shortness of breath or whole body aches they should contact their health care provider (avoid going directly to an Urgent Care facility, or the Emergency Room before calling).
Finally, in an effort to determine the prevalence of COVID-19 in our community, any resident interested in getting tested, can register for a test at www.cattco.org/covid-19-test or call 716-938-9119 or 716-938-2265.
