The Cattaraugus County Department of Aging and NY Connects is pleased to announce that we are now offering an innovative new health and wellness course to residents 55 and over. The Aging Mastery Program(r) (AMP) was developed by the National Council on Aging (NCOA) and has been successful at helping older adults build their own playbook for aging well.

AMP is a fun, innovative, and person-centered education program that empowers participants to embrace their gift of longevity by spending more time each day doing things that are good for themselves and for others. The program encourages mastery--developing sustainable behaviors across many dimensions that lead to stronger economic security, improved health, enhanced well-being, and increased societal participation. With professional guest speakers, class participants are able to consult with experts in developing their own long term care plans for the future. The course features ten classes to address individual concerns regarding medications, insurance, legal and financial planning, health options, sleep issues, relationships, and much more. Class members will be provided with food, prizes, and fun. Graduates of the course will receive their graduation certificate upon completion of the last class.

AMP classes will be held throughout the county between April 2019 and June 2020. The first two scheduled AMP courses will be offered in Olean and Portville and are set to start the week of April 8, 2019.
